Silver Mercury Dimes are a popular item for coin collectors. Historically, dimes first went into production in 1796. The first design featured the Head of Liberty on the obverse and an eagle on the reverse. These designs were changed in 1837 to a seated Liberty and then Barber Dimes in 1892.
