Morgan Silver Dollars

Dollar coins are a favourite among coin collectors and there are many different versions of them available. But perhaps the rarest Dollar is Morgan Silver Dollar, named after George T. Morgan, their designer.

He was then working at the London Mint. The initial "M" of his name can be found in the lower part of the neck, that is featured on the obverse.

The coins in high quality grades, such as - MS66, MS67 and MS68, are easily worth thousands of dollars and their value depends on collectors. Some of the key dates to look for are - 1884 S, 1888 S and 1889 CC.

Most of the uncirculated coins are scratched, because of poor handling. Places worth checking for wear on the coins are hair above Liberty's eye and ear, the high upper fold of the cap and the crest of the eagle's breast. Their mint mark is situated on the obverse, below the wreath.

They weigh a little over 26 grams and are 38.1mm in diameter. They are made of an alloy consisting of 90% silver and 10% copper. They were minted in San Francisco, Philadelphia, Denver and New Orleans.

Although they are very rare, we are proud to offer many of them, below:
